Grove Boats SA designs, builds and commercializes electro-solar and hybrid boats intended for passenger transportation, for capacities ranging from 12 to 100 passengers.
Our Aquabuses run on clean energy without the inconvenience of noise, smells or even vibrations. They are economical and easy to maintain and their reliability has been proven through the many units in operation, some for already more than 10 years. Very popular because they are on the cutting edge of technology as well as ecological, our crafts offer a very different proposition to our customers. Their “green” technology and innovation facilitate access to financing through private or public entities wishing to associate their image and support.
Our clients are professionals: operators of touristic infrastructures (hotels, resorts, marinas, parks and nature reserves), providers of public transportation services, or public entities like towns and regions, etc. They operate near bodies of water (lakes, rivers, canals, ports, marinas, coastal areas) and seek solutions for mobility respecting the environment.
Our expertise and team
Our know-how ranges from naval architecture to electrical engineering including hybrid motorization (fuel cells, diesel generator, etc.). Our engineers are some of the most innovative in the field of solar powered boats and together they combine several decades of expertise.
Our technical team has largely contributed to the success of over 40 units that are sailing throughout Europe (France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Great Britain,...), some for over 10 years. The main classification societies in Europe, like Bureau Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, Rina... have successfully certified each of them.
Services and propulsion
We undertake engineering mandates related to navigation and clean power (electrosolar, hybrid, fuel cells, etc.). Our services range from the feasibility studies to the management of the project. We also market and represent the brand Torqeedo, the German maker of quality outboard electrical propulsions.
The origin of our name: Sir William Grove
The name Grove Boats is dedicated to the pioneer Sir William Grove, who invented the fuel cell and was involved in the first experiments with electric boats, in the 1840 already!
